Provinzialkonzil der Prov. Armagh und Tuam; 1263
A synod of both Armagh and Tuam provinces, in which the archbishop of Armagh asserted his rights over the bishop and diocese of Meath. The synod was attended by a number of high-ranking clergy from Dublin and members of the king’s government as well. A number of canons were passed with the aim of buttressing the claims of the archbishop of Armagh. The bishop of Meath took the case to Rome, but to no effect. Instead, the rights of the archbishop to exercise his authority in Meath were confirmed and strengthened.
